Debate: Good Riddance to Mainstream Media?

Intelligence Squared US (IQ2US) provides a series of Oxford-style debates live from New York City on a number of pressing issues.

In this debate, the motion presented is “Good Riddance to Mainstream Media” and debaters examine the recent and dramatic changes to the media landscape in the context of news. With network evening news and newspapers facing steady decline, and more and more people getting their news from the internet and cable news, we have to ask: do these developments leave us better off? Can mainstream media institutions re-invent themselves to thrive in a digital age? Do they matter?
